Got Smiles?

We had a more relaxed visit with Lilia this afternoon. Yes, we said Lilia! That's her Russian name . . . and possibly American as well. She warmed up to us and smiled a lot. She is easily distracted by things "over there". We spent much of the visit snapping our fingers and trying to keep her attention on US! We are demanding parents, aren't we? It is not easy to jump into her life. Everyone is a little uncomfortable, but each visit should get better. We're waiting to hear from the doctor and will make our decision tomorrow morning. It's only just begun! The Copes.

Jonah and Andi,

My wife has been updating me on your blog for a few days now. Today was my first oppertunity to come and read it for myself. I am moved by your comments as well as the others here. It is truely a blessing having you share this experiance with us all.

Lilia sounds like a beautiful name for what I can only imagine is a beautiful girl.

Both myself and Kim will continue to keep you in our prayers through this very trying process. I am encouraged to hear that you have a strong support group there.

Just one quick question though if I may. How many grunts was original recipe? I am not a fan of extra crispy!

God Bless you both and your covenant daughter.

I LOVE her name! Now we have a Lily and Lilia 6 months apart in the family! She is only 7 months older than Silas. Lily, Lilia, Silas, DJ, and Baby Aaron (born today) will have so much fun playing together as they grow up! I tried to call you last night, but no one answered around 9pm your time. I will try again later. Love Aunt Stevyn

Jonah and Andi I didn't call because we went to the zoo yesterday. We took the number and tried to call from the park but I should have known I needed a land line. I will call today (Thurs.) after 12.

Caleb is doing fine. He gave us many fascinating animal facts at the zoo. I did not know, for example, that the fish surrounding the swimming hippos feed on hippo dung. We had the very best time, and I ended up having to eat his heaving bowl of rainbow dipping dots as they weren't as good as he thought they would be, but they were way better than I thought they would be.

Tonight we start the yard sale over at Martha's. He suggested I take him home so he could get stuff to sell. I said--we'd better wait for Mom to get here before we go selling the family treasures. So he is contenting himself to be a worker.

It is 8 am and I am waiting for him to wake up so we can start loading the truck (I draw the line at refrigerators and pianos. Afterall, he's still a boy).

We also like the name Lilia. Caleb likes it as well. (Nona was shakey in the LIL part (Kevin's mom) but she said the IA helped.)

Everytime we saw a fierce animal posed in his environment at the zoo and looking stately, Caleb told us that was him. When we looked at the baboons, he told me the same about the kingly baboon sitting before the glass. But when the king got up to walk away, whoa! Caleb whispered, "their behinds are funny." I told him, remember, that's you.

Love you both
Mother
