Thursday 6/14

Tonight we are in St.Louis at a Ramada Inn, where someone has replaced the can of air freshener with "casket must". We are doing fine. Our son pressed "pause" on his Playstation game long enough to tell us goodbye. Fin, our dog, jumped on us, and made us yell at him one more time...love that dog. Tomorrow we arise at 3:30 am to catch a shuttle, to catch a plane, to go to Atlanta, to sit for 7 hours, to fly to Moscow, to rub our fingers up and down over our lips while crossing our eyes.

Dear Andi and Jonah--Your son has already conquered the Wii and it's only Friday. He went swimming today--and thank our dear Lord above, Nicole remembered to slather on the sunblock. I have never gotten the sunblock habit down, but I'm trying to remember that the sun has become our enemy. Anyway, my heart is with you and you are flying as I write this. Caleb likes Lunchables! This is a great discovery for me. He told me this morning his daddy is really funny. I said--yes, I know...I homeschooled him. I asked him if he knew his dad had to get a spanking almost every day until he was in college (or so it seemed). He really liked that story. He told me he once had to get one everyday for four days. I said that was a really bad run and I hoped he'd reformed. He just smiled. He said that sometimes when he says something funny people laugh but he doesn't think they really laugh because he's funny, but just to make him happy. (he said this after he told me how funny his dad was). I told him people might laugh just because...and as I fumbled for my next word he said...to make me happy. I said yes. That was a great conclusion. So this was a great conversation.
Love you all
Mother

I heard from Andi this morning. She was calling on her $5/min. phone, so the conversation was very brief! Their trip went well and they are in Moscow. They should have e-mail available by tomorrow with an update on the way.

Andi & Jonah,
Now that VBS is over, I actually had a chance to look at your blog. I love it! (So does Alan - he was cracking up as I read Jonah's entry, and the fact that Jonah got spanked every day till he was in college). Glad to hear that you have arrived in Moscow safely! You are definitely in our thoughts and prayers. We can't wait to hear more about your exciting journey. :)
