Long days in Astrahkan

There is a noise in the other room of our hotel. The sounds are pitiful and expecting. These noises expect two adults to react, and , if it’s not too much trouble, react as soon as humanly possible. But what could this little noise be? These noises could not be from our little girl that left the orphanage a couple days ago. No, these children are quiet and don’t cry. These children have been in an environment where crying gets them nothing. They have given up whining and wanting instant gratification. WELL NOT THIS GIRL. She demands constant attention, and entertainment. Lucky for us we are ready to do all of these things for her. Lilia is so full of personality. She likes to crawl toward anything she knows she’s not supposed to touch and when you approach her she crawls twice as fast giggling loudly. She gets really hyper before bedtime and we have a lot of fun laughing together. I can’t wait till our family is back together. I miss our little boy more than I can stand, and I just want to be home. We are confined to our room since the heat is back. Being in this hotel all day makes the days extra long.
Lilia is sleeping well although you have got to see her going to sleep routine. She is swaying and rocking ever night and nap time, it is sad to see what kids have to come up with to comfort themselves. We are very homesick and each day grow more anxious of home. I have to go Lilia is calling.

My guess is that she is LOVING all the undivided attention she is getting from the two of you! Who wouldn't? I would like to see her sleep routine, but it sounds like she's adapted to putting herself to sleep and I think that's OK. K sometimes talks peacefully to herself for an hour before she fall asleep. There's not telling what else she's doing in there!
I hope the two of you are getting some sleep and not worrying about her all the time. I imagine you have the same anxious feelings many "new" parents have about their babies and you look in on her often when she is sleeping.
Hang in for a few more days! It will seem like a distant (albeit vivid) memory soon.

P.S. to Stevyn: I keep forgetting to answer you question before I post--No dried minnows, but I did eat some yummy octopus out of a vending machine! We'll have to swap stories some time!

I just got home from a meeting and wanted to check the blog before going to bed. Well I am glad I did as you had posted another chapter on life with Lilia.

I am intrigued about all the info you have shared. She sounds so cute. I keep looking at Caleb and thinking, my dear boy your sister is here and you have no idea what that means. He reminds me of Nicole in some ways. He went to Nona's today and had a fun time swimming. But he gets tired of Justin and Joshua fighting. I asked him--did you ever stop to realize they are fighting over you? This surprised him.

Tonight I said, I am going to the store so I need to know every food you will eat. He said he wanted lunchables, chocolate pop tarts, and chocolate ice cream, (I got some Cocoa Puffs while I was at it). Now don't worry, I'll stick some broccilli in there too. (not that he'll eat it). He has been such a good boy. He figured out if he puts Milk Bone in his pocket the dogs will follow him around. He's very happy about their cheap love.

Last night we watched Planet Earth again. He said, Anything bad happen in this one? (meaning, do any baby animals get brutally eaten by predators?) I said, not this one. He let me give him a foot massage and we watched the show until bed time. We have no definite plans tomorrow, but he does have to go to morning aerobics with me.

God bless and keep the three of you,
Mother

Hee...hee...sounds like it didn't take her long to wrap you around her little finger. :) As much as you must miss C, it is nice that you get some bonding time with L. By the way - my mom says that I used to rock on my hands and knees before falling asleep - and I turned out OK...I guess. ;)

Hope it cools down there so you can stretch your legs...not that it's cooling down here. High of 99 today.

Can't wait to see all of you!

I feel out of the loop with nothing to report since C is not here. We miss him, the dogs miss him and his race track is beginning to smooth out!

Aunt CC & Sy have returned, but
the builder is hammering up a storm making it difficult for S. to nap. They are making progress on the addition in spite of a couple of hiccups.

Your lives will be turned upside down for a while, but everyone will adjust. We're praying that the next few days until you start the trip home will pass quickly.

One thing more, Caleb went with me to aerobics. It's about 18 grandmothers so you can imagine the attention he got. Anyway, he wanted to sit on the bleachers and watch, but when we broke up to do our own thing, he worked out with me, creating some of his own moves. When it came time to jog, he blew me away (and everyone else), lapping me four times. He enjoyed that so much we had to stay after class so I could keep walking around the gym while he lapped me.

When he couldn't run anymore we went over to the daycare to see Aunt Sarah in action. She was sweeping up from the kids at lunch. Then we went to McDonalds and he played a video game while I watched and drank yet another Hugo sweet tea. He had apples and dip (okay and a Dr. Pepper at 10 in the morning, but it says "Doctor" afterall).

Now we are home and he's been running around with the dogs. He has stuffed Milk Bones in every pocket. Last night in bed I smelled an unearthly smell. Now behave. In the morning I awoke to doggie doo-doo in my bathroom. Milk Bones, I mumbled.

Tonight at 6:30 I am taking him to the Embry's for a prayer meeting. He can swim with some of the kids in their built-in pool. Don't worry, the prayer meeting is pool-side, so I'll have one eye on heaven and the other on his blonde head.

Our janitress came into the gym this morning (Gina McQuire) and said--well you can tell that's Jonah's boy, he looks just like him! Caleb liked that.
Love to you all
